ONE IMAGING OBSERVATIONSevere bilateral cerebellar hypometabolism is a signal to investigate, not a cohort pattern.

A formal childhood PET report described severely reduced uptake in both cerebellar hemispheres while uptake elsewhere in the brain was preserved. Later speech and orofacial-motor findings make the observation worth follow-up.

Why it matters: One scan cannot define ASH1L neuroimaging. It can motivate standardized imaging review and motor-language correlation.
A FAMILY-REPORTED PERIOD OF LOSS AND RECOVERYWalking returned after months of loss.

In an uncertain missense history, the family reported loss of leg movement after a prolonged seizure hospitalization, several months of wheelchair use, and return to walking after intensive rehabilitation, with pain and unstable gait remaining.

Why it matters: Recovery is biologically informative, but it does not reclassify a VUS or prove the cause of the crisis.
MOTOR FINDINGS ACROSS HISTORIESTone, laterality, pain, vision, and endurance deserve separate clinical questions.

The histories include hypotonia, intermittent hypertonia, clumsiness, tilt or limp, unequal use, hypermobility, flat feet, pain sensitivity at both extremes, fatigue, strabismus, and pseudopapilledema.

Why it matters: A single label such as “motor delay” cannot preserve mechanism, change, or response.
LONGITUDINAL FUNCTIONMotor vulnerability can coexist with athletics and new skills.

Families also describe later walking, improved balance, sports participation, creative work, increasing independence, and new communication strategies.

Why it matters: Natural history must count gains, compensation, and participation—not only deficits.
